Paving the way for New Curtains?

I've got a beautiful mantel made of solid oak waiting to be mounted above the fireplace in my workroom. Before it is mounted, it seems sensible to repaint the wall. Having found there was virtually none of the red paint left that I'd previously used, I needed to choose a new colour. As a feature wall, I wanted something bold, that will add warmth to the room. I'm a huge fan of teal, but I can do the whole house in the same colour! So I chose:

A gorgeous, rich aubergine colour, and one for which I know there are great fabrics available to compliment:

Donatello Violet from Clarke and Clarke's Firenze Collection

Bolero Fuschia from Clarke and Clarke's Bolero Collection

Flamenco Purple, also from the Bolero Collection
Does this mean that I should be making some new curtains for the workroom too?
These gorgeous fabrics, which texture, would look fabulous with the newly painted wall, finished with some stylish hand-sewn headings.

Curtain Making Workshop - First of the New Year

Yesterday, Pebble Blossom welcomed 3 students on the first Curtain Making Workshop of 2011. Following on from a friendly welcome, a much-appreciated hot drink and some idea and thought-sharing, the curtain-making was underway.

Each student brought their own fabric and made a pair of single-width curtains. There was lots of checking:

and measuring:

and getting to grips with using the sewing machine:

A lot of hard work by all, but very rewarding. I'm looking forward to receiving pictures of the curtains when they have been hung, by three students who should feel extremely proud of the product of their fantasic efforts.
